Last month, I shared with you the diary of my ride from Manali to Leh. However, something very important was missing in that diary, especially if you are a biking enthusiast who wants to study important rides in detail. The GPS stats that capture the elevation, distance covered, time spent on saddle, average speed, average moving speed and so on were not available in that diary.
I couldn't do it then as my Garmin EDGE device would simply refuse to upload the ride. It happily uploaded all the rides before and the ones that I have done upon my return, but not this one. It took several mails between me and the manufacturers, some of them frustrating, before one of their technical helps, who turned out to be a cyclist himself, took it upon himself to sort the issue out.
Frustrating because initially, the Garmin support was clueless and even suggested I delete this activity from my device for it is now corrupt. It was only after I explained that the data is fine and shows up in the activity and even gives me the summary, that this other gent came into the picture and appreciated the importance of the ride and the ridiculousness of his colleague suggesting that I delete the data.
The problem was that I had recorded the entire 7 day ride as a single ride. I wanted to see it as a single ride with the elevation changes and all else over 7 days, but whenever I would try and upload it, it would show an error. Learnt later that the file was simply too big to be uploaded as a single ride. So, what this helpful gent at Garmin did was that he spliced the ride into 7 different rides.
So, here are the statistical details of each day's ride. Although the link to each day's ride, which you can click yourself and see everything in detail, including playing it on the screen with the player, is there, just to make it easier, I have also provided a satellite map of the day's ride along with a chart with details of the elevation and speeds of each day's ride.

The (in)famous Gata Loops. If you notice, I skipped a loop as I went straight on a non-paved shortcut. This was my only attempt at a short-cut, for the sharper gradient and gravel extracted a very heavy toll. Not worth it at all
The two humps are Nakee La and Lachulung La. The trough between them is the Whiskey Nullah, where we had initially planned to stop for the night. A little before Nakee La were the Gata Loops
Day 6, August 20, 2013 – Pang to Tso kar
