An initiative that was arguably started as a concession to the movement in favour of keeping the status quo, Women's Day has turned out to be as much about being jolly and engaging with feminine sensibilities as it is about pushing unjust boundaries and striving for freedoms—at least in thought and gesture if not in life and deed. So meet ebullient Mimi, the pink teddy with the big red Dil.

Mimi lives on Funzoa along with her other fluffy toy animals, has loads of musical talent and an unrequited love. She is uncontainably honest to the detriment of her own interests—in her hit tune 'Tu online hai' (it has got one lakh and one thousand 'like's in Facebook and close to 8 lakh on YouTube) she is heard innocently observing to her crush—"Abe teri friend list to mere se bhi lambi hai, kab se teri first language angreji hai, school, college mein to you were such a champu, phir Facebook-Twitter mein popular kaise ban gaya tu!", refreshingly 'shameless'—Tu kyun offline hai, main ab bhi online hun, o! tu ne off karli chat, accha! kya samjha humko jhaantu, remarkably low-maintenance, and, ultimately large-hearted—Ab to subscribe kar, mera video like kar, like kar mera ye post, mere dost—finally forgiving her malefactor.

So we don't wonder too much when she is later found singing, Suni apni dil ki to ye haal hai. But sing she does with characteristic élan from qawwali to Indipop, telling women of all shapes, sizes and years, Jaisi bhi hai, tu hai beautiful, tu hai beautiful baby in a twin message against ageism and lookism. And, bindaas she is, as from heartbreak she bounces right back.

The creator of this free spirit is 25-year-old singer K from Bollywood (a man!) who has an NIFD degree under his belt. Launched only in November, Funzoa has received well over 1 lakh 'like's on FB. 'Life is a bitch' but, Mimi is characteristically 'philosophical'—"Kabhi to hum bhi dudh ki dhule they, apni safedi ki duhai log dete hai, unhi logon ne hum pey keechar uchhala, der se jana ki hum hi gadhey they".

Will she find new love? K says there is a good chance that she will. If it is male and he deserves her, watch this space on November 19, which is International Men's Day. Until then, Netizen, happy browsing!
